The ICT30118 - Certificate III in Information, Digital Media and Technology, provides students with the skills and knowledge to learn about how to best use current technologies in your everyday life or career. The course will teach you about:
communicating effectively in an ICT environment
providing suitable ICT advice to others
using social media tools for connecting and engaging
using current industry technologies
workplace health and safety in relation to technology use
The training associated with this course is to be delivered via online self-paced learning and assessment tasks. There is no set start date, location or delivery for distance education and the time it takes a student to complete the Course will depend on such factors as:
current level of technology experience
how much time can be given to study each day or week
motivation to finish the Course quickly
desire to do extra study and research along the way
other personal factors including health, family, financial and employment circumstances
The full time course duration is 12 months. The expected time required to undertake the learning and assessment activities of the course is around 800 hours. This means that you will need to allow around 17 hours of study time per week in order to complete the course within the 12 month time frame. If for any reason an extension is required, students can apply for one by completing an Extension Application Form. Extension fees may apply.
The course assessment is structured by a series of tasks that address the various aspects of each unit. These tasks will be completed and assessed you progresses through the course. Trainers will give you guidance on how to complete the assessment tasks and also provide feedback on assessment tasks throughout the course. The assessment is competency based. This means that you will be graded as 'competent' (C) or 'not yet competent' (NYC). If a you are graded NYC, you will be provided with specific feedback on areas needing improvement and given another opportunity for reassessment. You will need to be assessed as competent in all of the assessment tasks in order to be awarded your qualification.
Your Trainer will be available to assist you throughout this course and can be contacted if you require additional study assistance at any point throughout the course.
Some students who have substantial previous experience or qualifications in Information, Digital Media or Technology may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Any student seeking RPL must be able to provide evidence or documentation to support significant and successful past experience.
ENGLISH COMMUNICATION SKILLS - In order to complete this course, you need to have a sound level of ability in written and spoken English. This is includes the communication skills required to:

write short and long answers to questions

TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS - In order to successfully complete the course via online distance education, you will need to have the following equipment and skills:
Access to a computer with the following installed:
An operating system (e.g. Microsoft Windows or Apple MacOS)
Mircosoft Office or Openoffice
Internet browser (recommended: Google Chrome, Firefox or Safari)
Basic computer knowledge including:
How to turn a computer on and off
Using a mouse, keyboard and/or touch pad
Ability to browse the internet
Ability to upload and download files
Basic Word document skills (including creating, typing in, and saving documents)
Ability to email documents as attachments
Access to a printer and scanner is recommended (some mobile phone apps allow scanning)
If you do not already have access to the above technology, then it may be available through your local library. Please ensure that you have access to the above technology prior to enrolling.
This course provides the computing skills and knowledge to be an effective IT user for use in an office environment or employee in the area of technical support. The skills developed would also help the user with personal computer use and knowledge and confidence in the area of I.T. Possible job titles include:
